What are mosses?
Mosses are one of the three groups of plants call bryophytes, these are the oldest relatives of the first land plants and so they hold clues about plant evolution and the conquest of land. Although bryophyte are small plants, they are not as simple as you might think and they are present in almost all environments. Mosses are characterized by having leaves arranged spirally on a stem, they range in color from very pale green to dark green or brown.
